Sadgunakaraya – Six generations of humanity The story paints a realistic picture of the rural Sri Lankan life starting from the colonial times in 17th century. Fleeing after the defeat of the uprising against the British, a mother and son comes across a Buddhist monk living in the jungle. The monk teaches the son, Jayabanda, traditional Sri Lankan medicine. This becomes the beginning of 6 generations of traditional physicians. The story, written by the veteran novelist Sunethra Rajakarunanayaka, vividly depicts the evolution of the society in colonial Sri Lanka.
